RECAP: TAKE INITIATIVE EVENTS

To help our supporters Take Initiative in their communities for Earth Day, the Clinton Foundation mobilized volunteers for green events in four cities across the country: Chicago, Houston, Little Rock, and New York. Foundation volunteers joined schools, conservation groups, and their neighbors to clean up parks, plant trees, restore community gardens, and improve environmental spaces in their communities.

In Chicago, Foundation supporters, the Chicago Park District, and Friends of the Parks cleaned and greened a park by planting and mulch trees. Houston volunteers joined the Hermann Park Conservancy, Coastal Prairie Partnership, and Texas Master Naturalists
in Houston to restore a vibrant grassland in Hermann Park. As part of Project Blazing
Star, they planted more than 1,200 endangered prairie grasses to create a better habitat for native plants and animals. In Little Rock, Clinton Presidential Center staff and volunteers joined students of Dunbar Middle School to beautify the Dunbar Community Garden, which serves as a hands-on outdoor educational facility on gardening and the environment. And in New York, Clinton Foundation volunteers worked with GrowNYC to repair and replant the PS 76 Garden, next to the PS 76 A. Philip Randolph elementary school in Central Harlem. The team revitalized a common planting area, flower and vegetable beds, arbor, and picnic tables, which had fallen into disrepair.

Through all of these projects, Clinton Foundation volunteers showed that by working together to Take Initiative, even small efforts can have a big impact on our communities and on our planet. Thank you to all of our participants and the organizations who are helping keep our neighborhoods clean and green.
