Seabata's Story

Seabata's StorySeabata is a 9-year-old orphan who missed a year of school between 2004 and 2005 due to repeated bouts of HIV-related illnesses. When he first enrolled in Mafeteng General Hospital, Seabata's CD4 count was perilously low, and he was prepared to start treatment with antiretroviral drugs provided by the Clinton Foundation.

Since that time, he has been initiated on antiretrovirals, and is doing outstandingly. He returns for regular checkups with his grandmother, who says Seabata reminds her about his medications each day even before she can remind him. His CD4 count has risen significantly, and after his absence from school for more than a year, he has returned and enjoys it very much.
